Case Study: Pinnacle Chiropractic

Pinnacle Chiropractic is a network of chiropractic health and wellness clinics located in Northeast Ohio and the Chicago area. The main office is run by Dr. Craig Banks. Dr. Banks specializes in many areas of chiropractic care, most notably rehabilitative and performance enhancing care for athletes. The office also employs a massotherapist and technicians who assist in the rehabilitation center of the clinic.

Our Mission

When Dr. Banks came to us, he was looking for ways he could make the most of his online presence, to set himself up for growth in the future with a site that could be easily expanded and maintained. His current site had been made without professional assistance using FrontPage, and the unnecessarily long download times, inconsistency of the site's display across browsers/devices and the unreliability of the extensions the site employed were preventing Dr. Banks from using the site to its fullest potential.

In addition, Dr. Banks needed a backend structure that would allow all five current offices (and any future offices) to exist off a single template. All five sites needed to have a unique web presence, but share the same platform, to keep the brand consistent across all of their properties.

Preproduction

Learning more about Pinnacle Chiropractic was an easy task. Learning more about the industry and the types of sites already in existence required a little more time and effort. We researched the types of information important for a site like this. We looked at where the industry stood in the online world, and how much involvement Dr. Banks planned on having with his site once it was launched.

The most important part of preproduction involved laying out a strategy for a shared multi-site framework. We actually did this so well, we ended up conceptualizing our own Web property network in a similar manner!

Production

The current Pinnacle Chiropractic site had a number of issues, ranging from scattered navigation to pages of content missing entirely from the site. The first thing we did was to rework the navigational flow so the entire site would be within easy reach for visitors and getting where they wanted to go would make sense.

We were given a logo around which we were to design, and otherwise complete creative control. Our goal was to create a site that could visually draw attention to itself, and ultimately its content, while maintaining a conservative, professional edge. As is generally the case with Equentity sites, we wanted to create something that would give users a pleasing experience. The information had to be easy to understand, intuitive to find and wrapped in a pleasing visual environment.

Ease of use was (and always is) a major factor in the final site design. The initial impression needed to be memorable, but balanced so the content would be the primary focus of the site once the visuals set up the environment. We tested the site with the assistance of a few of Dr. Bank's staff and non-related volunteers, all with varying degrees of online acuity. Based on their feedback, we were able to make tweaks to how the site navigated and how the information was generally organized.

Postproduction

This site was a pleasure and a challenge to create. It replaced a site that could not be salvaged and the end result was something that could better serve the needs of Pinnacle Chiropractic now and in the future. This site will be expanded over time, as Dr. Banks and his associates add more information to their sites and possibly includes articles and/or an archive of their newsletters.

The site is built to accommodate Pinnacle's growing needs and market, and we were thrilled to be the ones to deliver this to them.
