Design and Development Dogma

Placing information on the Web is a very simple thing to do. However, creating a Web site that can be seen, used, touched, and experienced properly by nearly every single visitor requires not only a great deal of knowledge and understanding of how the Web works, it requires a willingness on the part of the programmer to design conscientiously.

When we design site layouts, we design them to be easy to use and visually engaging. When we code scripts for more complex functionality, we thoroughly test/debug them and carefully implement them so as not to alienate visitors using modified browsers or certain security settings. When we create Flash, we implement it so it will not hinder search engine spidering or create difficulties for visitors with visual impairments. As with most upper-echelon designers, we hand-code everything from the ground up, ensuring the most usable, fastest, cross-platform compliant sites possible.

Many developers consider 95% to be an acceptable usability rate. We consider a site that can be used as intended by 95% of the viewing audience to be a failure. Imagine if you were a store owner and you barred every 20th person from entering your store every day. Imagine if you owned a site that turned away visitors who were blind, deaf, elderly/preadolescent, using slower modem connections or owned older hardware. Would you be happy or satisfied with this? How would you know if you had such a site - would people tell you? Could they??

Our approach to Web design serves two purposes. It ensures utmost accessibility to your information. But perhaps more importantly, it lets you sleep a little better at night knowing you own a site that delivers to a wider audience than you ever expected, and your business and reputation are in the best possible hands.
